By “donating” your CPU time to the greater causes. World Community Grid is a great place to start, and of course you can find other projects that utilize distributed processing as well.
All you need to do is
- Join the project (WCG has several and adds new ones once in a while)
- Download the software (BOINC is the software that handles everything)
- Select preferred projects, or just allow the system to send you whatever jobs are available at the moment.
- Let your computer crunch away.
The jobs are set at low priority, so it will NOT affect your daily computing actions. So why not donate that resource and help the researchers make the world a better place for all?
