For those who don’t know, Gasukan is a monthly cosplay meet-up that usually takes place somewhere in or around Seattle. I have been going to these meet-ups for several months now, and have made quite a few friends because of it.

The latest installment, GK 27, took place at Lincoln park several weeks back, and I have been taking my time to pick and choose some of the best shots from the gathering. The task was not easy, though, as I got many great images of people who showed up.

So what exactly do people do at Gasukan? For the most part, people just hang out, take pictures, get pictures taken, and make friends. No one knows everybody, so usually people split into their little group of friends and do their own things. In fact, it’s just like a monthly costume party.

Because of the unusual nature of the meet-up (a huge group of people in costumes), I have encountered people asking what these people are doing on many occasions. After many of these encounters, I usually just let my friends do the explaining, because frankly, I still cannot figure out a concise description of Gasukan, or any of the cosplay meet-ups.
Pic: Brette, cosplaying her favorite Hetalia country, UK. I realized after the fact that she looked like she was gesturing “losers” to all the UK colonies.
Pic: Sally is a really great cosplayer, sadly I don’t get to see or take her pictures very often.

In all, I think GK27 was a success, as it has always been for me ever since I started attending. With GK28 only a couple weeks away, I encourage people who are interested but never attended GK to come check it out for yourself. Whether you actually mix with people or just stand and watch, it’s always fun to just see people in costumes acting all crazy-like.
It’s fun, I promise.
